Gillian Dunlop is a well-known senior Ear, Nose and Throat Surgeon with nearly 30 years experience in rhinoseptoplasty, otoplasty (ear pinning) and general paediatric ENT surgery.

Gillian is one of the 6 Dunlop siblings from Newcastle who went on to study Medicine at the University of Sydney (1970 to 1989). In 1909 her grandmother was one of the first female graduates in Medicine from the University of Melbourne.

After graduating in 1988, Gillian initially worked at Royal North Shore Hospital. As the recipient of many scholarships , she then joined the Australian Society of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery training scheme as the 2nd ever female candidate (NSW).

Her post graduate training in rhinoseptoplasty and sinus surgery was conducted in London with Dame Valerie Lund and Dr Ian Mackay (ENT Surgeon to the Royal Family).

Gillian returned to Australia in 1997 setting up her practice from scratch opposite the Sydney Adventist Hospital, Wahroonga. She also works at Hunters Hill Private Hospital.

She has received many accolades in her career but the most remarkable are:

  1. Receiving the Graham Coupland Medal from the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, 2018.
  2. Delivering the Keynote Address to the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 2023.
